It's funny, but the two years I lived in the San Diego area, I really
did see the Endless Summer poster in what seemed like 1/3 of the garages
that I'd pass by. You know, you pass by homes and the garage door is
open on a Saturday or Sunday, because either the kids are playing or dad
is doin' some hobbies in there. We're all voyers, we all look in
garages casually... it could be a garage sale (and I went to a lot of
those; I'd search for those!) Anyways, down there, it really did seem
like you'd see that poster on the walls of a most of the garages, in a
sense yes, more than you'd see the American flag. Sure, it's like the
Lennon "more popular than Jesus" remark, but there you go, it's kind of
on that level.

Not sure, by the way, if all those posters were "legit." The primary
thing is that image being a primary personal identification symbol for
homeowners in what I used to call "vacationland." Hell, it was even in
my garage. Subconciously, we all want to wave the flag. And I'd rather
that be the Endless Summer poster, dig?

I'm whistling the clavoline solo from the theme now.... perhaps a
national anthem?

If you're ever out here in NYC for somethin', contact me and we can get
together.
